Current Projects: Hunters (Amazon)
Steven is a New York City based actor, singer, pianist, and composer with over 20 years of performing experience. He is currently playing the role of Ben in Amazon's new series Hunters, starring Al Pacino. Steven was honored to play the role of Clem Ronson in Marc Lawrence's most recent film, The Rewrite, playing opposite Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei. Steven made his feature film debut playing the lead role of Danny Stein opposite William H. Macy and Cheryl Hines in Bart Got a Room, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. He was next seen in Bryan Goluboff’s Beware the Gonzo, starring with Ezra Miller, Zoe Kravitz, and Amy Sedaris. Mr. Kaplan has also appeared on the small screen in featured roles on ABC’s Forever and What Would You Do? and NBC’s Smash, Law & Order, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Steven made his Broadway debut at Lincoln Center in Act One (5 Tony Nominations including Best Play), James Lapine's new play from the classic autobiography by Moss Hart. He also performed the role of Jay in Neil Simon’s Pulitzer Prize winning Lost in Yonkers at the Old Globe in San Diego; and played James in Book Club at the Barrow Group Mainstage. Other theater credits include Henry Brooks in Terrible Infant at the NY International Fringe Festival, productions with the Young Playwrights Festival in Connecticut, and several community theatre productions with the Playgroup Theater in White Plains, NY, including Godspell (Jesus) and Into the Woods (Jack). Steven is also a voiceover artists for national brands, and the reader for several audio books. He is a multi-time Audiofile Earphones Award winner.
In music, Steven most recently wrote “Wildfire” by Cautious Clay from his Deadpan Love album. The song has received several placements including the final season premier of Grey’s Anatomy (ABC), Gossip Girl (HBO), and The Wilds (Amazon). He also composed the music and lyrics for the original musical The Family Business (O'Neill Center NMTC Semifinalist). Steven recently recorded on the album "Flaud Logic" opposite the renowned Symphony X virtuoso guitarist, Michael Romeo. Steven has also been seen touring the streets of New York as a guest pianist with Piano Around The World. Steven was the musical director for Lucky Stiff at the Stella Adler Conservatory and the new musical Our Man in Chocolate at ASCAP. He has performed as the pianist for the New York University Drama Cantorum and has had a number of his original choral works performed throughout NYC, many of which he conducted personally. He has also arranged and composed pieces for the Susan Chambers Dance Company in Atlanta, and scored the film, Richard Gardner -- Portrait of a Professor, which premiered in NYC. Steven has been teaching piano and music composition to students of all ages since 2010. Steven is a graduate of the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU.
